As an obvious force to be reckoned with, artist AVIJÉ showcases her powerful vocals and compelling songwriting on new single ‘Black Jungle’
Iranian-born, but now based in the creative hub of Brighton, AVIJÉ’s musical journey has been one of self-discovery. Exposed to a fusion of traditional Iranian music and Western influences like R&B and hip hop, It is this eclectic mix that has shaped AVIJÉ’s sound. A sonic journey through reggae, jazz, soul, Latin, and even 1970s Iranian music.
Her latest single, “Black Jungle”, is a hauntingly beautiful track that explores the suffocating feeling of being trapped in a toxic relationship. The emotional exhaustion and mental anguish that comes from chasing someone else’s happiness and validation are laid bare in AVIJÉ’s lyrics, making “Black Jungle” a poignant and relatable piece of music.
Drawing inspiration from the 2023 Iran Revolution, AVIJÉ uses her platform to shed light on the struggles of the Iranian people, particularly the gender apartheid and injustices they face on a daily basis. AVIJÉ’s project ‘A New Beginning’ examines the concept of freedom in all its forms – spiritual, creative, and political. Due to be released in 2024, the upcoming project is supported by the Arts Council England. The project is a culmination of AVIJÉ’s personal journey and her passion for creating music with a message.
