Stephen Wicks Faces the Future on “The Doomsday Clock”

Stephen Wicks is taking on the fears of the present age with his new single, “The Doomsday Clock (85 Seconds to Midnight).” The track uses one of the world’s most recognisable symbols of global danger as the foundation for a powerful rock release.

The Doomsday Clock, published by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, has long represented humanity’s proximity to disaster. Wicks’ song is inspired by the 2026 setting of 85 seconds to midnight, which signals intensified concern over global threats.

Rather than treating those threats abstractly, the single gives them emotional weight through forceful lyrics and dramatic instrumentation. The result is a song that connects political and scientific anxiety with personal urgency.

Wicks recorded the track with producer George Shilling, whose credits include Blur, Primal Scream and Steve Winwood. Lead guitar is performed by Stefan Hauk, adding further intensity to a release built around warning, reflection and action.
