Hege Høisæter Leads a Wide-Ranging New LAWO Classics Release

Mezzo-soprano Hege Høisæter is one of the central voices on Himmelskygge, a new LAWO Classics album scheduled for digital release in May 2026. The recording presents a broad view of Norwegian contemporary song, placing the human voice in dialogue with piano, electronics, and jazz ensemble textures.

Høisæter is joined by pianist Jorunn Marie Bratlie and Kari Telstad Sundet, who contributes electronics as both composer and performer. The album also features Tov a Vot, made up of Vetle Nærø on piano and keys, Theis Jakob on bass, and Ola Grindbakken on drums.

The programme includes Sundet’s The Drift, a song cycle based on texts by Emily Dickinson. The work stands at the heart of the album and reflects the recording’s interest in blending acoustic clarity with experimental and electronic sonorities.

Alongside Sundet, the album presents works by Olav Anton Thommessen, Carl Gustav Sparre Olsen, Theis Jakob, and Gisle Kverndokk. With a total duration of 62:14, Himmelskygge offers a compact but wide-ranging portrait of contemporary Nordic art music.
