A new collaboration between Judith Owen and Jamison Ross has arrived in the form of “Inside Out,” a vibrant single from Owen’s album Suit Yourself. The track features Ross, a Grammy Award-winning artist and Snarky Puppy alum, along with the Tonya Boyd-Cannon Choir, whose soaring gospel vocals help define the song’s celebratory tone.
“Inside Out” draws from old-school soul, gospel and the musical traditions of New Orleans. Owen’s performance sits at the center of the recording, while Ross contributes both as co-writer and drummer. He has praised Owen’s ability to channel the grit, elegance and emotion associated with the great women of soul while still making the sound unmistakably her own.
The song is also closely tied to Owen’s personal journey. She has described it as a reflection of her musical and personal evolution, as well as a statement about finding hope and compassion in hard times. New Orleans plays a major role in that message, with Owen pointing to the city’s understanding of life’s fragility as a reason to celebrate the present.
The official video for “Inside Out” was filmed at Fish Pot Studio in New Orleans in May 2026 and directed by Josh Bagnall. Its location connects the visual side of the release to the city where Suit Yourself was recorded and where Owen has found a powerful source of inspiration.
Suit Yourself brings together jazz, blues, soul, big band arrangements and original songwriting.
